The Nicest Bitch You’ll Ever Meet

Podcast Episode 298

Why Being Called “Too Much” Might Be the Nicest Thing Anyone Ever Says About You

There's a moment in Jade Stadnick's book where she describes sitting at a table she should have been flipping over. She stayed anyway. Most of us have a version of that table.

Jade is an entrepreneur, first-time author, and my guest on the latest episode of Fox Talks Business. Her book, The Nicest Bitch You'll Ever Meet, started as a list she made after her life, in her words, burnt to the ground. It sat unfinished for five years, until her own body forced the issue.

I'm not going to tell you what that health scare was. You need to hear her tell it.

What I will tell you is this: the conversation gets at something most business content won't touch. We talk a lot about hustle. We talk a lot about resilience. We almost never talk about the middle - the part where you're crying in the shower and still showing up to post “hashtag blessed” the next morning.

Jade calls it out directly. So do I. Because if you've built a business, raised a family, or just tried to hold a life together while everyone assumes you've got it figured out, you already know the middle exists. You've just never heard anyone say it out loud on a podcast.

We also get into a trap I think every woman running a business eventually hits: the doormat-or-bitch binary. Say nothing, and you get walked on. Say something, and suddenly you're “too much.” Jade's answer to that binary is the whole reason the book exists. It's more useful than a mindset quote. It's a practice.

There's a specific list Jade made that changed how she spends her time. I'm not going to explain it here, because she explains it better, and because half the value is in how she arrived at it. Same with the line she now uses when someone tries to pick a fight with her - it's already living rent-free in my head, and I suspect it will end up in yours too.

This episode is for anyone who has been called emotional, dramatic, difficult, or “a lot” for simply saying what they think. Jade's answer to that label might be just what you need to start to reframe also.
