You’re The Bottleneck

Tanya Fox

Podcast Episode 269

Let’s cut the fluff:
If your business is growing just enough to keep you busy but not enough to give you more freedom, time, or income...

You might be the bottleneck.

And I say that with love—because I’ve been there. And I coach women through this exact thing all the time.

The good news? Being the bottleneck doesn’t mean you’re doing it all wrong. It means you’ve outgrown how you’re doing things right now.

In this week’s episode of Fox Talks Business, I’m sharing how to recognize if you’re the one slowing your business down—and more importantly, how to fix it without torching everything you’ve built.

Let’s dig in.

What Does It Really Mean to Be the Bottleneck?

A bottleneck is the point in your business where things slow down or stall. And for many women entrepreneurs, that point is... them.

Why?
Because you’re trying to do everything. Make every decision. Approve every move. Carry the weight of the business on your own back.

That might’ve worked in year one or two—but now? It’s probably the reason you’re stuck.

You're likely the bottleneck if:

  • You’re the only one who knows how things work

  • You can’t unplug for more than 2 hours without panic

  • You’re doing the work of 3 people and still undercharging for it

Sound familiar?

3 Signs You’re the Bottleneck in Your Business

If you’re not sure this is you, check out these common signs:

1. You’re Involved in Everything—and Exhausted

You’re running the show from top to bottom, and it's draining you. You want to delegate, but it feels risky—or you don’t even know where to start.

2. You’re Stuck in the Weeds

Instead of making CEO-level moves, you’re stuck reacting to emails, fixing client hiccups, or obsessing over your next Instagram caption.

3. You’re Undercharging (and Overdelivering—Again)

You’re doing too much for too little, and deep down, you know it. But raising your prices feels scary, and simplifying your offers feels impossible.

How to Start Fixing the Bottleneck (Without Burning It All Down)

Here’s how you start reclaiming your role as the CEO—not the default everything-doer.

🔍 1. Audit Your Time and Energy

Track where your time is really going. What tasks could someone else do 80% as well as you? What drains you but doesn’t actually drive income?

💸 2. Focus on Your Highest-Value Work

What do only you do that actually grows the business? Spend more time there. (Hint: It’s not answering every client DM at midnight.)

🧱 3. Set Stronger Boundaries

This includes setting non-negotiable CEO time, protecting your energy, and ditching emergency mode as a business strategy.

📦 4. Simplify Your Offers + Raise Your Prices

If your current pricing model requires constant hustle to stay afloat, it’s time to rework it. Your pricing should reflect your expertise—not your exhaustion.

You Built It—Now Let’s Rebuild It to Work For You

Inside my Money Mastery Group Coaching Program, we walk through this exact transformation:

  • Restructuring your time and tasks

  • Streamlining your offers

  • Rebuilding your pricing for profit
